Parliament in Practice - A practical introduction to Parliament

IPANZ is pleased to announce the return of this popular training event.  This one-day workshop will provide an introduction to Parliament suitable for anyone new to the public service. It will include a general overview of the role of Parliament (including a tour and visit to select committees), as well as a look at public sector accountability to Parliament.

The workshop is interactive and will incorporate:

  • a customised tour of Parliament and a visit to a select committee hearing (subject to select committee meeting schedule)
  • an overview of the role and functions of Parliament
  • an exercise and discussion about the role of key players in Parliament
  • an introduction to public sector accountability to Parliament
  • a walk through resources available on the Parliament website
  • an accountability exercise while viewing oral question time live

This workshop is designed for people new to the public service or who need an introduction to parlimentary process.
