Government agencies hold huge amounts of personal information about New Zealand citizens and are increasingly using information matching to be more efficient, to save money and to deliver better services.
But with this comes a great responsibility to protect it and use it wisely. At risk, when things go wrong, is the loss of trust by citizens in government, as several recent examples have shown.
